History

different stages of making a hammerBruce started general blacksmithing, toolsmithing and farrier's work in 1969 in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Moving to the Shetland Isles in 1976, he continued to develop the toolsmithing side of the business. He manufactures a range of high quality hand forged tools for the farrier, blacksmith, woodworker and stone mason using traditional materials such as carbon and alloy steels and shafts made from split hickory.

woodworkers chiselsTools of any description can be made to pattern, any hand forged tools can be copied, using High Grade Tools Steel. Correctly hardened and tempered, with a mirror finish on all tools described as 'bright finish'. As all tools are hand forged, not die stamped, any size or weight can be made. All tools requiring a shaft have a generous eye in them, to allow them to hold a sufficient amount of timber. Tools are blue from the fire or a painted finish.
