Shetland is an unspoilt group of islands at the northernmost  tip of the UK - as close to Bergen in Norway as it is to Aberdeen in Scotland. Although strictly speaking part of Scotland it is more Norse influenced, with the spectacular  Viking fire festival Up-Helly-Aa taking place in the winter months.

Shetland is a bird-watcher's paradise with some of the best colonies of sea birds in the country, beautiful seascapes and unspoilt rugged landscapes for walkers with carpets of wild flowers in the summer.
